Boy or Girl?

A friend of mine did this and I thought it was a cute idea. We find out what we are having (if the baby cooperates) on October 21. Any guesses on the sex of Baby Esquivel?

Illinois - September 2009

This trip to Illinois was for the Meyer Family Reunion. It was just my mom, Jessi, and I. After flying into Midway, we found our way to my Aunt & Uncle's house in Bartlett. My aunt had a roast in the oven for dinner -- Yum! Jessi took to Pat and Ed really quickly, but was a little hesitant about their dog because he was big. The next day, she liked him.

On Sunday, all of us and my cousin, Jessi, drove down to Sibley for the family reunion. It has been awhile since I have been to Sibley, but not much has changed. It is still a small little town surrounded by farms. We walked down to Lake Sibley and then past my grandma's old house. Jessi loved running around and had to try out the swings at the park. I have a lot of childhood memories of hanging out around the small lake and spending time at my grandma's house. My mom enjoyed catching up with her cousins and showing off pictures.

On Monday, Jessi got to play most of the day with the two girls that my Aunt watches. They played with the little toys, danced and had music time, colored and played with play dough, ran around outside (and inside), and just wore each other out. She had so much fun playing with them and relunctantly took a nap.

We woke up early this morning to go home and made it back into Austin before 1. It was sad to leave, but I think we were all ready to be home.

I need to give a HUGE thank you to the wonderful family that I have! My sister helped us board and unboard the plane in Austin. My cousin, Jessi, met us at Midway to help me get mom, Jessi, and all our stuff to the rental car. My Uncle Ed rode with us this morning to Midway to help get us and our stuff all checked in. My Aunt Pat is always very thoughtful and helped with my mom while we were there. I couldn't have managed traveling alone with my mom and Jessi without their help!

Jessica's Hair Salon

Another day of rain meant finding things inside to occupy Jessica. Jessica doesn't like having her hair done except by the ladies at daycare. So I thought I would show her how to sit still while someone did your hair and handed her the comb. She concentrated so hard on combing my hair and only took a break to eat lunch. Later she put clips in my hair, but I forgot to get a picture of that. I have to say that she didn't knot it up or pull too hard. I think I might let my favorite hair stylist, Jessica, do my hair again!

Bedtime Stories with Grandma

My mom is visiting for a couple days which means she gets to spend lots of time with her favorite little lady, Jessica. After dinner tonight, both changed into polka dot jammies and then Jessi sat in Grandma's (or Mama is what she says) lap and Jessi shared some of her favorite books. I have a feeling that there will be many more bedtime stories with Grandma.

18 Month Pictures

This afternoon Jessica got all dressed up for her 18 month pictures. The only reason she had 18 month pictures is because I forgot to get one year old pictures. Actually, I didn't forget...it just wasn't a good time for pictures because she was having a lot of ear infections and ending up getting tubes shortly after turning one. I thought that putting her in front of blinking lights for photos might not be the best idea. She really didn't want to get her picture taken today either and passed sitting next to a cute big bear for photos. She did take quite a few good pictures which we took home on a DVD. Here is one casual photo and I've also posted a dressed up one on the right.

Something New

Monday was the start of something new - Jessica had her first day in the 2-year old room. She moved up with one of her little friends, but had to leave one friend behind. The three divas will be together again soon! She cried a little the first day, but as soon as I was out of sight the crying stopped. Boy was she exhausted the first day. The second day she went straight to her new teacher. Today Joey dropped her off and she shied away from one teacher and went to another teacher (the one with the cookies). She seems to have adjusted well which makes since because most of the kiddos were once in her 1-year old class.

This morning we also got another glimpse of Baby Esquivel. He/she had the hiccups for a while which was cute and then he/she just layed there chilling waving its hand in front of its face. It was cool to see the little flutter of the heartbeat (which was at 167). All is well with Baby Esquivel!

Looking forward to more new somethings...

Hello

On Saturday we went to get new cell phones. Jessica had a good time dancing to the music in the store and running around. The guy assisting us thought she was cute and gave her a new toy. You guessed it...her very first cell phone. Its pink, it flips open just like my old one, and there is a fake message on the display. It's one of the ones they use on display until the real phones arrive. She carries it around pretending to talk to someone or pretending to text. You would think that Joey and I are on our phones all the time by the way she plays with it, but we are not. Talk to you later!
